A Message From Our Executive Director
I have to say we have never been busier, but in the best possible way!
We just opened up registration for this year’s 53rd Education Conference being held in Reston, Virginia, right outside of DC. We have planned some fun activities for families and wonderful engaging sessions for participants. Activities include a Gala Appreciation Dinner, a silent and live auction, and a family-friendly sock-hop – possibly with root beer floats (by the way, this was my idea)!
In the meantime, I am visiting some of our state conferences and I am amazed, but not surprised, at the dedication and unique ways foster families are working together to help each other. March is the month to celebrate the profession of social work. We are honored to do so.

Training Spotlight - Sleep Health for Foster Children
This year’s 53rd NFPA Education Conference, June 21-23, will host a robust offering of sessions, facilitated by experts from across the country. One course, currently available on NFPA’s Training Institute site (nfpati.org), titled “Sleep Health for Foster Care Children,” has been very popular. As such, we have invited Dr. Amy Wolfson, the facilitator of that training and a Professor of Psychology at Loyola University Maryland, and her colleagues to present two sessions at the conference on their sleep study research. Come to the conference and learn the importance of sleep health for children exposed to early adversity and the science behind sleep health strategies that work!
